0 - What is Fortnite?
Imagine being with a hundred players fighting for survival in one game map. The last one standing gets all the rewards for himself. You would think that the best way to go about the game is to kill the other ninety-nine players to win yourself a delicious win in the session. But contrary to this battle-crying belief, the game is quite strategic at most.
With over 125 million players worldwide, Fortnite’s concept is similar to movies like The Hunger Games, and its warfare-like nature attracts many people into playing it with no stop. If you’re a parent and your child suddenly asks you to buy merchandise like a Fortnite poster, then your kid has probably been into the multiplayer offshoot game.
- How do you play Fortnite?
Fortnite is not a game that is ultimately distinct from other games. In fact, it gets its traction by how little the changes it has compared to other games. But what makes it really interesting for many people is the interaction it gets.
Instead of having two teams, or twenty-five players at most, the game can expand to up to a hundred gamers in one arena. The game has two modes people can play: The Save the World Mode and the Battle Royale Mode.
The first mode, the Save the World Mode, is the solo version of Fortnite. It’s actually the first version that Fortnite made, where one can enjoy the features of the game without the pressure of taking on other players or other threats to one’s survival life in the game.
Instead, one gets to experience a game that offers a story who runs the whole time, and while one will still have to fight zombies and other threats to their survival game, they can usually take them on alone. The game is available for one user to play it, but they can invite up to three players to be with them in the game.
The second mode, the Battle Royale Mode, is the version most Fortnite players prefer. The context here is that one hundred players get into the game, where they will be thrown off by an airplane onto the game map, where they must survive. The call for killing other players come when the player realizes that they need to win the game, and they can do so by getting weapons and materials that the killer they kill has.
The players are encouraged to build safe structures throughout the game play, because having one hundred players in one game map is not a joke. It will really teach its player the value of strategy.
The good thing about this version is that there are no zombies to scare you off, but there is the gameplay’s Storm, which poses an injury to all players, and even kill them, when it takes over the game. The storm is the reason why players must go to the “safe zone” before the Storm takes it run through the game map.
